Create a SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment

SRDF/Metro Smart DR is a two-region high available (HA) disaster recovery (DR) solution. It integrates SRDF/Metro and SRDF/A enabling HA DR for a Metro session.

Prerequisites

  • The storage system must be running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020 or later.
  • See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.

About this task

To create a smart DR environment:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Storage > Storage Groups.
  3. Click Protect.
  4. Click Setup high availability with DR using SRDF/MetroDR and click NEXT.
  5. Select a Metro R2 Array ID. To update the list of remote systems, click Scan.
  6. Select Automatic or Manual for the Metro SRDF Group.
    If no suitable SRDF groups exist between the two arrays, this option is not available. The SRDF group is automatically resolved by creating an SRDF group.
  7. Optional: Clear the Establish SRDF Pairs checkbox.
  8. Optional: Modify the Remote Storage Group Name.
  9. Select a value for the Remote Service Level.
  10. Optional: Clear the Enable Data Reduction checkbox.
  11. Click NEXT.
  12. Select a DR Array ID. To update the list of remote systems, click Scan.
  13. Select a value for the DR SRDF Mode.
  14. Select Automatic or Manual for the Metro R1 DR SRDF Group.
    If no suitable SRDF groups exist between the two arrays, this option is not available and the SRDF Group is automatically resolved by creating an SRDF group.
  15. Select Automatic or Manual for the Metro R2 DR SRDF Group.
    If no suitable SRDF groups exist between the two arrays, this option is not available. The SRDF Group is automatically resolved by creating an SRDF group.
  16. Optional: Modify the Remote Storage Group Name.
  17. Select a value for the Remote Service Level.
  18. Optional: Clear the Establish SRDF Pairs checkbox.
  19. Optional: Clear the Enable Data Reduction checkbox.
  20. Click NEXT.
  21. Optional: On the Summary page, modify the smart DR environment name and review the details.
    The environment name can be up to 16 characters long, is case-sensitive, and can include alpha numeric characters and the dash ('-') and underscore ('_').
  22. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
